size does not fit all: the customization of learner education in gynecolog
ical surgeryLed by:Ian M. Vasicka\, MDConsultant OB/GYNMD Educator\, Harva
rd Medical SchoolBrigham &amp\; Women’s Hospital (Affiliate)Description:
Recent qualitative research based on grounded theory has revealed four do
mains characteristic of highly effective surgical education: the patient\,
learner\, educator\, and culture. To provide trainees with individualized
custom education facilitating successful learning\, all four components m
ust be addressed by clinician-educators and incorporated into the broader
paradigm of time-variable competency-based medical education (CBME). This
educational project through survey design assesses PGY-4 residents’ atti
tudes\, perceptions\, feelings\, and concerns about their postgraduate tra
ining experience. The data provides insights into learners’ perceptions
of training experience and sense of preparedness for transition to practic
e\; thereby\, enabling faculty to address specific learner needs through t
ailored educational measures and approaches2nd project: The Promise of Med
