Physician Assistants

The first PA was hired at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) in the early 1980s, and the PA Services Department was formed in 2001. Today, BWH is one of the largest employers of Physician Assistants (PAs) on the East Coast, with 334 PAs employed across the hospital throughout 37 departments.  Additionally, there are over 190 PA students that rotate through BWH each year, joining us from eleven different PA programs.

PA Services hosts PA Grand Rounds once a month, with the exception of July, on the first Thursday of the month from 12:30pm to 1:30pm in the BWH Zinner Breakout Room. We cover a variety of topics and category 1 CME credit is offered.  The PA Grand Rounds are also streamed live and the lecture videos are archived internally on the BWH Intranet for the Partners Community to view.

Each year PAs at BWH are celebrated via our annual PA Appreciation event. This event includes a dinner and awards ceremony where members of the BWH community come together to recognize and celebrate the enormous contributions that PAs make to our community on a daily basis.

For Students: PA Rotation Requests

Please note that all requests for rotations at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital must originate from the PA program clinical faculty/staff in order to assure that they have been approved by the PA program. The request should be sent to BWHPAStudentRequest@partners.org. Thank you for your interest in our educational program.
